Re: Connecticut – 1 YR OLD Male dog with crippled back legs needs a home
THIS IS A CROSS POST! PLEASE SEND TO APPROPRIATE LISTS*CONTACT IS NANCY AT SARAH, INC. AT: tonik@optonline.net (@optonline.net)or call: 203-377-0826.
This boy has been pulled from a shelter, so that not to end his short life, but he needs a commitment from a rescue to neuter, get him a cart, and a forever home. I am overfull, and cannot put a male in my male sensitive pack, and do not want to kennel him, but will if I have to. He can be transported to an approved home or rescue in the Northeast and as far south as VA.
His name is Corky. He is no more than a year old and is an absolute doll. Picture can be forwarded. This is what the shelter manager said about him.
How much does he weigh? 15 lbs maybe a little more.
Does he have bladder control? yes
Pictures of the legs? will be very hard to do..they are permanently bent.
What was done shot wise? da2ppv, bordetella and deworm with drontal.
Temperament? WONDERFUL
Any other cute things about him, he is a great, happy little guy, he really should be looked at by a specialist. You never know, maybe he could be fixed.Nancy Cummings

OT:Falmouth, KY – Patches – a part blind/totally deaf needs surgery donations!!!
Patches lives with her foster mom Tammy Jacobs (pendletonrescue@yahoo.com) in KY — and needs eye surgery to remove one of her eyes – the other eye appears to be fine — Patches is also deaf….If you would like to donate to Patches — please contact Tammy Jacobs — she has the vet’s name that will be doing the surgery on Patches.Thank you again —— it seems strange writing for an animal that I am so closely attached to —- but Patches needs the surgery — and pride goes out the window when you love an animal.Nancy Landry

cage trying to stay warm and well fed. These pictures
were taken right after a feeding so he has some food
on his mouth. Sandy deserves a shot at life- do you
have room in your rescue group and heart for him?
Sandy thanks you for taking the time to read about him!!
Payson Arizona- Three Legged Hound Mix in need of loving home.. Please Cr…
H. R. is an 8-month old neutered male hound mix. He was brought to our shelter as the result of a car accident in which he suffered a broken hind leg that had to be amputated. Many shelters would have euthanized him on the spot, but he is such a sweet-natured dog that we believe he has great potential to be a fine companion for an older person or a disabled person who wouldn’t mind that he is a tripod dog. He is very gentle, not very big and does not jump up on you. He is a quiet, well behaved little boy and he loves to be doted on. H. R. originally stood for “hit and run,” but now it stands for “hero,” which is what this brave little dog is.Payson Humane Society

Paralyzed kitten needs adoption or she’ll be put to sleep.
This is from the URGENT section of HandicappedPets Rescue Forum. The
cat is located in New Jersey and this is her mom's post:
If anyone has read the paralyzed pets section than you know of my
kitten Bast. She was paralyzed in a pull out couch and I thought I
would be able to take care of her, but with school and work and no
help from parents it's becoming impossible. The person who said they
would help me isn't and it isn't fair to Bast, and they are
threatening to put her to sleep and I'm not going to let this.
Therefore she needs adoption as soon as possible and within the next
7 days. We are located in Manchester, NJ right outside of Toms River,
NJ in Ocean County. She is wonderful loving cat who needs a lot of
attention, she's only about 7 months old. She's doesn't have a broken
spine just nerve damage, she wears diapers and rarely needs her
bladder expressed, she can go on her own. Due to the fact that I am
no here most of the time and no one in this house is willing to help,
her bottom has become a little raw and needs extra attention for it.
I wish things had turned out better with me and her but I will not
let her life be taken on my accord, she is a wonderful companion and
I trust I will find her a home through this website. My name is
Heather and you can contace me at : 732-904-0754.

VERY URGENT! – VA – SENIOR DACHSHUND IS DESPERATE!!! Senior Doxie in an empty feces covered house!
*Crosspost* I got a call today from Fredericksburg ASPCA who told me that
there is a senior Doxie in an empty house in the area. Her owner was taken
to a long term care facility and will not be back home again. Her animals
were left behind alone and no family to take them in. ASPCA went to the
house on the prompting of neighbors but when they got there they only
removed the cats she had and said the Doxie looked too old and left her
behind. They have an age limit of 9 and past this they will not take dogs.
They said they have tried calling every rescue they could find and no luck
getting her help.
They happened to catch me at lunch but I work full time all week and am 2
1/2 to 3 hours from there so we are looking for heeeeelp!!! I have 10 here
now and 4 already on my intake waiting list and one special needs liver
surgery case this week but I will find a foster home for her if someone can
help rescue her. When the ASPCA officers where there they said she had some
food but no water at all and the house is covered with urine and feces.
The officers talked to the owner's family, and they want nothing to do with
the dog, and believe the ASPCA should clean up the mess in the house.. huh??
This sweet senior needs help!! She does not deserve to be left alone and in
her own filth.
*If anyone can help please call me on my cell: 804- 690-2361, or call
Melissa at the Fredericksburg, VA SPCA. 540- 373-9008.

bowling green,KY++++ Amputee Kentucky Dutch in Dire Need of Donations and Home
Hi, my name is Dutch and I’m a very sweet boy, which is why I don’t quite understand How All This Could Happen to me. I was brought to the shelter as a stray but the shelter thought that the man who brought me in was my owner because he kept changing his story. I was rushed into surgery that cost the shelter $500 and now they are turning to you to help them HELP ME! I had an elastic bandage on my leg that wasn’t removed and it almost severed my leg off, I had no muscle mass in my leg and couldn’t use it at all. It hurt so bad! Shelter staff was scared that I might not make it through surgery, but I did. How could I give up on those who were NOT going to give up on me? I hope you can help pay my medical bills so that if another animal comes in the shelter can help them too in the same way they have helped me. I’m up for adoption now, getting along great w/ 3 legs and I’m so sweet.I hope to find a family that will love me because I’ve never really been loved before.– Kentucky DutchThe Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society

deaf and going on blind calico cat at coweta ac, newnan GA, very very urgent
this shelter is very high-kill with a very low adoptionrate for the cats.
she has just come in, description:
"A ten yr old torti and the card says is deaf and going blind…nice,
huh? The cat went up to a house and the person tried to keep her but
she did not get along with her cats, etc…yadda, yadda, yadda She is
apparently spayed/current."
i will post photo and id number as soon as the cat is put on their
petfinders site. IF she is put up for adoption at all:
((if you can take this cat, please don't hesitate to contact the shelter
and go get her. there won't be that many blind and deaf calico cats in the
house, so
she won't be overlooked easily:))

Fredericksburg VA – Hank the rear leg amputee needs a foster or home ASAP
contact is Kim at sophiecat5@comcast.net 540 270-0193
Hank had some awful kind of accident and when his previous owner brought him
to the vet they couldn’t afford to pay for what he needed so they opted not
to help him. The vet couldn’t bring herself to euthanize this sweet healthy
kitty who is just under a year old so instead the vet did the surgery to
remove his leg, neutered him and brought him UTD on vaccinations etc and now
all he needs is a family of his own who will love him and care for him.
Hank is a healthy black and white tux and has also tested negative for FIV
and FeLV. I have been told he is a total love bug and I did take some
pictures of him after his surgery so please email me if you would like to
see them. He needs a home indoors especially since now he only has three
legs. Cats with three legs do fine and once his fur grows back no doubt he
will be gorgeous! Currently Hank is living in a cage at the vet office but
he really needs more room and attention than they can give him..do you have
room in your heart and home for this very special boy? Please contact me
for more info or if you can foster him.

Summerville, GA – Lab mix with embedded colar needs rescue/donations (vet care)
***THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OFFERS TO
DONATE FOR THIS POOR DOG’S VET CARE. HOWEVER; THERE HAVE
BEEN NO OFFERS TO RESCUE HER !!
PLEASE….PLEASE….ISN’T THERE A RESCUE THAT CAN MAKE A SPACE FOR HER OR SOMEONE WHO WILL GIVE THIS DOG A HOME FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE ???
The shelter has no funds whatsoever for vetting, so now she is just lying on the cold wet concrete floor. She gets up only to give me a kiss. Juliet needs medical attention right away and a loving home to help her heal. This deep wound will get horribly infected with her lying in that nasty shelter. Her beautiful buff colored coat is coming out by the handfuls, but I think this is just stress maybe. I can see no sign of mange. Juliet has such a sweet and tender spirit. Even though she has been neglected, hurt and abandoned, she still thinks people are wonderful. A dog like this can make a wonderful family pet. Please don’t let her get put down after all she has suffered. Please give Juliet a chance at a new life.
Thank you so much for any help!

Partially blind kitten available for adoption in Northern CA- therapy animal
We have an 11 month old kitten who is believed to have been born
mostly blind. We think she can differentiate between light and shadow,
but cannot see details. She often runs into walls and cannot locate
pieces of food on the ground visually. She sniffs and sniffs and
sniffs, before she can find the food.
She is very affectionate, and we are hoping to have her certified as a
thearapy cat in the near future. She is very pleasant and is great
with strangers, sitting very complacently on their laps and purring
away. Shes of course is harness trained and is fine with car rides and
regular outings. Shes been exposed to lots of different stimuli and is
very non-reative.
She will be available for adoption in the near future, once certified.
Best,
Michelle

Fw: ~ Deaf Shar-Pei Needs Home (Searcy, AR) PLEASE CROSSPOST
CONTACT:
Sharon Goff
sharonmg68@yahoo.com
This beautiful male Shar-Pei (possibly purebred) was found hiding in a horse
barn on this couple's horse farm (outside Searcy). They named him Buddy
Tuff. He is mostly deaf but may have a little hearing in one ear. The
couple gave him a home there for almost two years and he has never bothered
the adult horses. They have had baby colts born this year and Buddy Tuff
has started chasing them. A friend of the couple in the city of Searcy has
VERY TEMPORARILY agreed to keep him. Buddy Tuff MUST find a new home ASAP!
I believe Buddy Tuff has had his vaccinations and rabies but has not been
neutered. The owners have indicated they would help with this cost if a
good home or foster could be found for him.
Does anyone have an adopter interested in a beautiful Shar-Pei? Does anyone
know of a Shar-Pei rescue within a reasonable distance of Searcy? Any help
on getting Buddy Tuff to safety would be greatly appreciated!

Atlanta, GA. – EXTREMELY URGENT!!!! – Need rescue for a young Deaf Dalmation
This is for a deaf Dalmation, so Dalmation rescues might work as well. This
poor dog was brought to the shelter by his owner, a young man, and signed
over.
Apparently he and his father live together, and they are fighting. The
father told his son to bring the dog to the shelter, and have him put down.
When he found out that his son just signed him over, he called the shelter
demanding that the dog be PTS. The staff said they were going to try to
find someone to take him, and the man flew into a rage saying that he wanted
that damn dog dead! It apparently scratched him, poor thing's nails are
unbelievably long. This man is coming to the shelter in the morning to sign
euthanasia papers, and stay there while the dog is put to sleep.
Needless to say, this poor baby is currently in the back of Lucy's van! We
need to get him out of here ASAP, so that if and when the shelter director
caves in to the former owner's demands (and he will) and requests this poor,
confused dog be returned for euthanasia, we will no longer have him.
Lucy is heading to Atlanta tonight, and she can take him with her if there
is anyone along the way. I know it's a long shot but hey, this board has
worked miracles before. It's worth a shot! I met this boy a little while
ago. He's SO sweet and affectionate. He's not much more than a year or so
old.
My phone # is: 504-319-2655, and Lucy's is: 504-202-3716. Try Lucy first,
and call me if you can't reach her.
Thanks,
Karen

three-legged border collie/aussie female
There is a beautiful, three-legged border collie/aussie female at the
Georgetown (Texas, just north of Austin) animal shelter. She has been there
for about 2 months after being hit by a car. The hit caused one hip to break
off (basically the equivalent of a femoral head ostectony on her right rear
leg) and the loss of her left rear leg. With all of that, she has a
beautiful, sweet disposition. And she is a lovely dog. We just need to find
her a rescue situation for foster or a permanent home that will understand
the issues she has and realize that, obviously, her rear-end will always
need special attention.

NEED HELP FOR TORTURED HUSKY!! Frankfort,KY.. Advice for Injured Husky in KY +Help Needed ASAP!!!!
Ceci Mitchell of Frankfort, KY, has helped dogs and cats out for years, and
has fostered for some of you…..and probably ended up keeping the dogs (she
has quite a few)! …(she is one of the most compassionate people I know).
Ceci needs help and advice. A lame husky found it's way to her daughter's
home (middle of the road), and of course, daughter brought it to Ceci. (At
the same time a starving, injured cat showed up too.) This Husky is a
mess….one of her legs is just mutilated. Here is the latest report:
"Back from taking the husky to Lex to Landsdowne Vet's. Took x-rays and
are referring her to N Broadway Animal's Dr. Hume (I think is name) for
consideration. May remove pieces/parts of foot/leg – does look like old
break because of bone re-growth – many crushed bones in wrist and maybe at
elbow and top of long forearm bones (again, based on new bone
indications…). And they put her in a cast, so if I can keep it on
her – and dry – for a week, maybe her toes will have healed up by then….."
All the dog's front claws are missing; Ceci speculates she tried to claw her
way out of some place.
Ceci recently retired, is taking care of sick family members, has animal's
battling cancers with expensive treatments, and just can't do any more. Her
many kennels are full, and although her heart has lots of room left, she
needs help.
Is there a rescue who helps with this type of problem; a place where I can
work to raise funds for whatever treatment this dog might need as the dog is
cared for? She does not believe she can handle this dog's wounds,
especially if there is amputation. She is begging for help with this
girl……any ideas? Thank you.

Doggy Cart Donation Available
I heard about this from a friend-in-rescue and thought I just had to pass it on:
This organization is giving away a cart for any dog in need of one with an owner who cannot provide/afford it. A doggie owner who bought one is now giving one away to a dog in need. If anyone here knows of a previous foster, or any dog in need right now, please go to http://dogkarts. com/donate/ to check it out.
